Obituary of Cindy Elrod

Cynthia Lee "Cindy" Elrod, 71, passed away on February 22, 2024. Born in Frankfort on March 31, 1952, Cindy graduated from Frankfort High School and later received her B.A. and M.A. in Music from Eastern Kentucky University, where she was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa honor society. She later attended Kentucky State University to minor in math. Cindy was a long-time educator and band director in the Frankfort Independent school system. She was a member of Bridgeport Christian Church and director of the Bell Choir, and she loved Walt Disney World, Boston Terriers, reading, Music, and softball. Cindy was preceded in death by her husband Henry Elrod and parents James G. and Doris Herndon Thurman. She is survived by her two sisters, Jana Hudnall and Donna Cunningham; three brothers, James G. Thurman, Jr., David Thurman, and Gilbert W. Thurman; and nieces Jennifer Thurman and Stephanie Thurman. Services in celebration of Cindy's life will be held at Rogers Funeral Home on Thursday, February 29th at 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Frankfort Cemetery. Pastor Ann Shepherd will officiate the services.
