William A. Webb, husband of Mary Webb, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the age of 83. Born in El Campo, Texas on July 10, 1931, Mr. Webb was the son of the late Aubrey and Patsy Hughes Webb. An Army veteran, he graduated from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas, and went on to receive a Masters Degree from Western Kentucky University and a Doctorate in Education from Indiana University. He taught Junior High School at Caverna in Cave City, Ky. while also serving as a school counselor, and then worked for the Kentucky Higher Education Commission. He was later Deputy Commissioner of Higher Education for the state of Texas, retiring after eighteen years. Mr. Webb was a Rotarian, a member of the First Christian Church, and an amateur radio operator. Along with his wife, he is survived by a sister-in-law, Martha R. Turner; a brother-in-law, Paul Robert "Bob" Miller; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil H. Webb; and two brothers-in-law, John A. Miller and Joe D. Miller. Services will be held at Rogers Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. Friday with visitation preceding at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the american Heart Association or the First Christian Church Memorial Fund.
